China's installed capacity of renewable energy soared in the first four months, with wind and photovoltaic power increasing by more than 17% year-on-year

(Beijing, May 18, Xinhua News Agency) From January to April this year, China's installed capacity of renewable energy has shown a rapid growth trend, demonstrating the country's firm steps in achieving the goals of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" and promoting energy transformation.

Data from the National Energy Administration shows that：

• Wind power installed capacity: As of the end of April, the cumulative installed capacity was approximately 340 million kilowatts, representing a year-on-year growth of 17.7%.

• Photovoltaic installed capacity: The cumulative installed capacity reached 320 million kilowatts, with a significant year-on-year growth of 23.6%.

During the same period, the total installed capacity of power generation across the country reached approximately 2.41 billion kilowatts, an increase of 7.9% compared with the same period of the previous year.

The dual carbon goals lead the energy transition:

China has solemnly announced that it will strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060. The development of renewable energy and the optimization of the energy structure are the key paths to realizing this grand blueprint.

According to the "Action Plan for Carbon Dioxide Peaking Before 2030" released last year, China plans to increase the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption to around 25% by 2030. The strong growth in installed capacity of renewable energy at the beginning of this year is an important step towards this goal.
