The Green 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics is in full swing

On February 4, 2022, the Olympic flame will be lit again at the National Stadium, also known as the "Bird's Nest". The world has welcomed its first "dual-Olympic city". This Winter Olympics not only showcased the "Chinese-style romance" contained in the opening ceremony to the world, but also demonstrated China's firm determination to achieve its "dual carbon" goals by becoming the first Olympic event in history to use 100% green electricity, empowering a green Olympics with clean energy!

Among the four major concepts of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, "green" takes the top spot. The National Speed Skating Oval, also known as the "Ice Ribbon", as the only newly-built ice competition venue in the Beijing area, adheres to the concept of green construction. Its exterior facade adopts a curved photovoltaic curtain wall, composed of 12,000 pieces of sapphire blue photovoltaic glass, perfectly balancing the two major demands of architectural aesthetics and environmental protection. 

The "Ice Lotus Flower" venue for the Winter Olympics has more efficiently and simply integrated photovoltaic power with architecture. Its roof is covered with 1,958 photovoltaic panels, forming a photovoltaic power generation system of approximately 600 kilowatts. The hollowed-out grille curtain wall on the exterior of the building combines solid and void with the main structure, creating a unique space. When night falls, under the energy storage and power supply of the photovoltaic system, the curtain wall presents patches of glittering and sparkling snowflakes, adding a dreamy touch to the venue.
